Attaching the Facing
Hi, I'm at the attaching the facing stage. I've trimmed back the canvas 1/4" and was wondering when I sew the facing at 1/4"should I just be sewing the facing to the fabric or should I also be sewing through the canvas as well?

Solo is correct. You pair the canvas back so you won't catch it in the seam. It's more like 5/16th that's cut back. You want the seam butting the canvas but not piercing it. If the canvas is too far back behind the seam there's a chance it would always pull out from the edge.
I know as I have made this mistake before.
