The Art of Fitting ...

Second Fitting

I've just finished the second fitting of my coat. The changes I've made are:

  1. 3/4" taken off the front edge of the foreparts

  2. Narrowed the half back by 1/2" at the centre back (point 0-2 on the draft)

  3. Increased the right shoulder angle by 1/2" on both the front and back

  4. Shifted the sleeve pitch by 1 1/2"

The suit seems to fit much better with these adjustments and adjusting the shoulder angle has removed the wrinkle on the right-hand side of the back. But looking at the side pictures it seems that the balance is a bit off, as the front hem is higher than the back hem. Should I move the shoulder seam towards the front to fix this?

Due to narrowing the back by 1", I had issues getting the edge of the collar to match the breakline. Do I need to reshape the collar to get it to match the breakline or should I add back the 1" to the half neck (point 0-11 on the draft) and then taper the 1"adjustment to point 5 on the draft?
