SILK SKEINS - what colour to buy?
To date, I have used "Gutermann Waxed Silk Skein - 750m - Colour: Elephant" for basically everything, its a great compromise colour and at £35 per colour I can't afford to be buying many colours. Hence...
Can anyone recommend the most used colours - I want to buy 3 or 4 more.
And if you have NOT used this thread - it is absolute perfection. It is thin and incredibly strong, it fits through a No9 needle. And it NEVER tangles - the smoothest sewing imaginable. It arrives in a large loop that I cut at the bottom so I get 750 X 1m lengths.

Very envious of you actually having access to that stuff! 😄 Gütermann - being a GERMAN company! - does not offer Waxed Silk Skein here at all.
Ordering it from B&B makes it extremely expensive, with adding taxes and customs - so buying myself rolls of 100m silk and then cutting and waxing them myself is currently slightly cheaper (If you don't calculate the time used for that...) I have bluntly sent Gütermann an e-mail last week, asking them why we can't have the good stuff here on the mainland - I doubt I will receive an answer any time soon - or at all.
