It can be very confusing can‘t it? It’s difficult to know whether it’s a good price for good cloth or a price for bad cloth!

That was a quick reply, Rory thanks! To be honest when I bought it I had absolutely no idea what sort of cloth it was apart from it was wool! I bought it off someone vastly reduced and was pleased to get it at the time, as this is my first ever tailoring experience. I think the amount of ravel has been the biggest issue for me! So I wasn‘t trying different fabric- I bought it out of sheer ignorance!

Hi Rory, this is the exact stage I’m at with my men’s jacket- attaching top collar. I’m halfway through hand attaching it, or I would have made it in two-pieces as per your suggestion. I steamed it and stretched it hard, but it barely changed shape. The cloth I’m using is a Huddersfield, Fresco, Hardy Minnis, 100% wool. Its lightweight I think, ravels very easily, extremely difficult to tell wrong side from right side. Does the cloth I’ve used have any impact on my difficult one on stretching it? Also, as mentioned in another post, I made my undercollar in two pieces. What is the point of me doing this if I then make my top collar in one piece? It feels like it would negate the function of the undercollar bias sides. I‘m so looking forward to making another jacket as I want to put what I’ve learnt into practice second time around- your videos and this forum are really helpful and inspiring.

Not commenting on fit as I don’t know enough. But I think the suit looks awesome! It‘s so great to know it’s handmade in these days of commercial ‘make it as fast and cheap as you can‘. The lapels look a lovely shape and where you open the coat to show the trouser top the waistband looks so neat and well done. It’s really a lovely suit. if mine came out half as well I’d be pleased. Congratulations- it’s wonderful!
