I just started the waistcoat course. Thankfully my chest is a 42 so I could use Rory’s measurement from the video, but using the measuring chart I don’t see how the front shoulder width is determined. I have the pattern drafting book but I haven’t taken that course yet. Is there a way to determine it or measure it? Thanks!

Thank you both. I had myself all confused but reading your comments allowed me to figure out what I was after. I was referring to point 14-13, which is actually the rear shoulder width, but the description referred to front shoulder width + 5/8. I was thinking the front shoulder width would be a value on the chart but it is actually the measurement of point 11-9. So if I have this correct, point 14-13 = point 11-9 +5/8.

I assume you mean point 9-11 in the draft. If I remember correctly that would be "VSW" (Vest Shoulder Width?) in the measurement chart. Hope that helps!
