My first attempt at double-breasted.
I think the coat probably needs picking up at the neck point on the front to get it to close properly – when pinned the fit looks not bad (I'm happy with the amount of cheat drape) but when "unbuttoned" it wants to sit quite open. Is that right? If so is the alteration simply to lower the neck point on the front (then change the break line)?
Thanks!
PS I have other pictures of the back etc. but this feels like the primary issue.
I suppose worst comes to worst I could translate the back pattern down towards the hem, as you say the coat's a little long anyway
Thanks – yeah the collar thing is annoying! For all it's failings, it's a problem my first coat doesn't have. The second coat does to a certain extent, which is a shame. I can't feel this coat hanging off the collar at all.
The main difference seems to be the collar size, actually. I think maybe the squaring of the shoulders led to me letting the collar get too large... So I guess I'll be bringing neck points in, and then the front down. So complicated!
I agree about picking up the front neckpoint.
One thing I notice is that the collar is standing away at the back neck. This might be caused by the excessive front balance. You will want to keep an eye on that or it could ruin the final coat. Possibly raising the back balance at the centre slightly might be required.
Another suggestion: in my opinion DB coats always look better if they are cut slightly shorter than a SB. Personally, I would take off maybe 1.5-2cm from the bottom hem. That's purely a matter of stylistic preference, though.
For the sake of completeness, here's the rest
A slightly less foreshortened picture...
