Hi Rory
What is the cloth you use in this demonstration? It looks like a wool cashmere mix. Is it from Dugdales as well? It looks very smart and is a wonderful colour. PS. Is this a taster version of trouser making full video series and if so when is it planned to be released?
Those trousers were made for my brother for his wedding, think it was a wool/cashmere mix from Dugdales. This mini series was suppose to be a whole ‘how to’ video series. Unfortunately the ass hat of a videographer lost audio, blurred footage and missed important details so it couldn’t be used. We are currently reshooting the trouser making series. Expect it before the end of January.
Sounds amazing. Can’t wait
That's great. If I can make a suggestion, post a few photos of the trousers' front, back, and the inside. At the start of the video, you might want to take a minute to go over the parts of a nice pair of trousers. Not everyone knows what the interior looks like.
When I took a trouser-making course, I had never seen a pair of trousers with a half-lining and a curtain. My teacher, who was in his 70s, accidentally handed out two different fly patterns. Many weeks later, when I tried to work with them I couldn't figure out how to add both. A tutor insisted that it had to be one or the other but I replied that must be wrong because why else would I have two pieces? I'd only sewn one fly before and everything on these trousers seemed to be more complicated than normal.
I am ready to sign up to the trouser making video series. The coat series is excellent! I didn't realise how little I knew until watching the series. Now I am wondering what else I don't know about the secrets of Savile Row.
@Rory Duffy - that's great news, I'm very excited for the trouser video. Will these trousers be a matching set with the suit jacket? If so, I will preemptively order my kit from Dugdale (int's shipping/banking is slower than I expected).
That’s a good idea. The first episode could be the last one, where I show what the trousers look like and how they fit, before going through the step by step process.
