That seems logical, I was giving some thought about your comment regarding more horizontal room at the back of my jacket and wondered if I should have takin less off the back panel. That would have in turn given me a larger half back measurement.
I will try this on my next coat project.
So many things to consider with tailoring......But I guess that is the point. I suspect that after making 3 - 5 coats the pattern should get better and need less corrections after the pocket baste.
Yes, in my opinion fitting is much, much harder than actually assembling the coat (which is generally the same for every person). There's a reason why the 'cutter' is usually considered as superior to the 'tailor'. It's a much more highly skilled job.
I've been doing this for years and I'm still learning new things, and kicking myself over mistakes I make. It's a complicated process.
