What I can see in Savilerow, they are stitching it thru the canvass. Please advise what are the advantages of doing your way and why some tailor prefer to sew it thru the canvass? Thanks in advance!
I received a few of those.Decided not to take it personally, at the end of the day it’s still my forum 😎.Also I am pretty sure it was probably done by mistake.
I didn't take it personally because I also thought it probably was an accident. I just wanted people to know that a notification does go out when it happens. This is the first forum I've been on that had that feature.
@Kunsthandwerk It was a mistake. I don't have any idea what those arrows for. Now I know, my bad.
Just a quick comment on my original question, I think it is also easier and quicker to not stitch the outbreast on the canvass. The only thing I am concern when you use pocket squares it shows that it is on top of the body canvas and pocket bag of the outbreast tends to show specially if you are dealing with lighter fabric like super 160's and above.
I received a notice that someone downvoted my answer. I assume that was a mistake because there was nothing the least bit controversial about my response. Please be aware that people do receive notices when a comment is downvoted.
Kunsthandwerk is correct.I recall a elderly coat maker who always put the out-breast through the canvas, one slip and there was a hole in the foreparts. Holes became more frequent as each year passed.
I can't find it immediately, but Rory answered a similar question about three weeks ago. It's either in this forum or in the comments to the videos. IIRC (I could be wrong), he said you have to be much more precise when stitching and cutting through the hymo. In the classes in which I made jackets, we made all the pockets first, and then added the hymo. I can't recall how we handled the breast pocket, but for the jetted pockets, we cut a wedge out of the canvas, pulled out the pocket bags, and hand sewed the canvas to the pocket, as Rory did.
